The Evolution series was inspired by the body language, birth and raising of Kurt Lossgott's children. These moments capture the spirit of growth and change innate in all Life, while the essence or personality of the being remains present from the start. Discarded kiln firings from a porcelain doll manufacturer were sourced, adjusted and altered to make these works. The series includes the assemblage work “Silent Prayer.”

Silent Prayer is an assemblage of a porcelain doll head, gramophone speaker, and marble column. The white head bows introspectively atop the grey column, listening. Lossgott drew from observing his children's early life, creating a personal meditation on their innocence and transformation.

Evolution I uses repurposed doll limbs and resin to evoke human development. Curled limbs and extended arms capture birth and reaching, symbolising life's unfolding.
Childlike assemblage exploring becoming.
Evolution II continues the series' motif of simple human forms — along chubby limbs, small hands and feet almost touch — an infant's self-awareness and personality emerging, expressing the mystery of growth.

The figures here were assembled from discarded firings sourced from a porcelain doll manufacturer. Kurt watched his own children grow up and saw the same passage — get up, crawl, walk, communicate — recorded in each one. The veiled figures of Tomorrow's Angels carry the same arc forward into the metaphysical: souls in formation, waiting on the next step.
